Вид характеризуется широким распространением в горах Евразии (альпийский пояс) и Арктики. В горах Средней Сибири это обычное растение субальпийского и альпийского поясов гор. Иногда по долинам рек J. nana спускается там довольно низко (до выс. 800 м над ур. м.), но и здесь, под пологом леса, растут также и в стелющейся форме. И. Красноборов.
