Издаваемые экземпляры принадлежат к преимущественно европейскому, но занесенному человеком во многие страны мира типовому подвиду D. ischaemum subsp. ischaemum, являющемуся тетраплоидом с числом хромосом 2n=36. Другой подвид флоры СССР - D. ischaemum subsp. asiatica (Tzvel.) Tzvel. comb. nova (=D. asiatica Tzvel. 1963, Бот. мат. Герб. Бот. инст. АН СССР 22 : 64), являющийся, по-видимому, диплоидом и, следовательно, непосредственным предком типового подвида, отличается более мелкими колосками, не имеющими или почти не имежщими булавовидных волосков, и распространен на Кавказе, в Среней Азии и на юге Дальнего Востока.
