Распространен на юге Восточной Сибири и Дальнего Востока. Встречается по болотам, лесным полянам, заболоченным берегам водоемов. От E. russeolum Fries subsp. russeolum, не встречающегося восточнее р. Лены, отличается узко-обратнояйцевидными (а не широко-обратнояйцевидными или обратнояйцевидными) пуховками, более длинной (0,7)1-1,5 см дл. (а не 0,7-1,3 см дл.), самой нижней кроющей чешуей, серыми или светло-серыми, иногда почти прозрачными (а не серыми или темно-серыми) остальными кроющими чешуями, пыльниками (2)2,5-3(4) мм дл. (а не (1,5)2-3 мм. дл), эллиптическими (а не обратнояйцевидными) плодами. М. Новоселова.
