Этот распространенный почти по всей Центральной Азии, но заходящий также в Южную Сибирь, Восточный Казахстан и Среднюю Азию вид наряду с L. angustus (Trin.) Pilg. является относительно более примитивным из многочисленных континентальных видов литорального по происхождению рода Leymus Hochst. Как показано Е.Г. Бобровым (1960, Бот. мат. Герб. Бот. инст. АН СССР 20 : 7-9), данное еще И.И. Георги название "Triticum secalinum Georgi" является вполне законным и имеет приоритет над всеми остальными названиями этого вида. Н. Цвелев.
