Мы предпочитаем относить этот широко распространенный в Южной Сибири и МНР вид к секции Leucopoa (Griseb.) Krivot. рода Festuca L., хотя он вместе с группой родственных видов нередко выделяется в самостоятельный род Leucopoa Griseb. Дело в том, что виды секции Leucopoa очень тесно примыкают к видам секции Breviaristatae Krivot. (с типом F. altaica Trin.) и не всегда четко от них отличимы. Значительно более обособленными в роде являются секции Bromoides Rouy (с типом F. gigantea (L.) Vill.) и Bovinae Fries (с типом F. pratensis Huds.), возможно действительно заслуживающие выделения в самостоятельный род - Schedonorus Beauv. Н. Цвелев.
