Распространен на юге Сибири и Дальн. Востока, на Севере Китая и в Монголии. В разных частях ареала и в зависимости от условий обитания очень варьирует. Кроме этого проявляет следующую морфологическую изменчивость в онтогенезе: в ювенильной стадии образует группу луковичек, в 1-2-й год генеративной стадии - одну базальную и 2 значительно расширенных в подземной части прикорневых листа, в последующие годы луковичек не образует и имеет один, узкий у основания, прикорневой лист (второй лист срастается со стеблем и отделяется от него под соцветием).
