Вид родства Polygonum tripteroocarpum A. Gray и P. alascanum (Small) Wight., распространен в верховьях р. Амги в районе выхода нижнепалеозойских известняков Алданского нагорья (Якутия), где он встречается на скалах, в различных лесных (сосняки, лиственничники) и луговых сообществах. P. amgense – четко обособленный вид горца, хорошо узнаваемый по наличию белого или рыжеватого шерстисто-войлочного опушения на нижней стороне листьев и по крылатым плодам с плотными кожистыми зеленовато-оливковыми блестящими стенками.
