Европейско-кавказско-центральноазиатский вид, распространенный в лесостепях и степях. Южносибирские образцы нередко определяют как A. antheroideum, отличительный признак которого - рано опадающий околоцветник - недостаточно стабилен, в некоторых популяциях редок и потому не может быть критерием вида.
