Бесстебельные растения, произрастающие чаще на открытых сухих склонах, иногда в лесах и среди скал, всегда группами. Листья глубоко сердцевидные, длинночерешковые, всегда опушены. Нижняя сторона листа часто бархатистая. Характер опушения зависит от освещения. Корневище короткое и всегда находится в поверхностном слое почвы. Т. Нечаева.
