Издаваемые экземпляры относятся к форме с желтым восковым налетом, описанной Траутфеттером и Мейером [Fl. ochot., p. 42 (1856)] под названием P. farinosa var. xantophylla Trautv. et Mey. С первого взгляда эта форма производит впечатление отдельного вида, но на большем материале ясно заметно, что она не обладает ни сплошным обособленным ареалом, ни фрагментами общего дизъюнктивного ареала, встречаясь в смеси с типичной формой, которой свойственен белый восковой налет. В Прибалтике наблюдаются формы, не отличимые от забайкальских. Лишь растения с о. Сахалина, Шантарских островов и с Охотского побережья, описанные в качестве var. chrysophylla Trautv. et Mey., кроме желтого воскового налета, имеют другие, более существенные отличия от обыкновенной P. farinosa L. Поэтому только описанный Накаем первоцвет P. sachalinensis Nakai может быть признан самостоятельным видом из сродства P. farinosa L. (с желтым восковым налетом). Ан. Федоров.
