Казахстан, Монголию, Сев.-Вост. Китай и часть Центр. Китая, советский Дальний Восток (Приморский и Хабаровский края, Амурская обл.) и сев. часть п-ова Корея. По длине р. Лены проникает в Арктику. На юге достигает пустыни Гоби (Монголия) и некоторых районов Центр. Китая. Встречвается в различных экотопах, поднимаясь в горах до 1800 - 2150 м над ур. м. Обширность ареала и разнообразие условий обитания обусловили значительную внутривидовую изменчивость. Очень близок к E. elusa L., с которм нередко объединяется. Д. Басаргин.
