России и сопред. госуд.: 311; Павлова, Безделева, 1996, в Сосуд. раст. сов. Дальн. Вост. 8: 99. Откуда описан вид не установлено, однако лектотип выделен (Jusell, Jarvis 1994): Herb. Clifford 165, Dianthus 6 (BM). Этот вид широко культивируется во многих районах Европы и Кавказа, часто дичает, но натурализуется лишь в зоне широколиственных лесов. Он встречается повсеместно в Европе, Средиземноморье, Северной, Восточной и Юго-Восточной Азии, а также в Северной Америке. М. Кузьмина.
