Culmus simplex. Folia scabriuscula. Vaginae glabrae. Ligula ca 2 mm. longa lacera. Panicula (deflorata) contracta, colorata. Gluma inferior oblongo-lanceolata acuta, ca. 4 mm. longa; superior acuta paulo brevior. Palea inferior ca. 3,5 mm. longa. Palea superior ca. 3 mm. longa. Arista supra basin inserta, rigida, geniculato-divergens, paleam paulo excedens. Calli pili inaequales ad 2 mm. longi. Rudimentum robustum abunde pilosum. Differt a C. arundinacea Roth. siculis aristisque brevioribus, pilis paulo longioribus; a C. obtusata Trin. panicula contracta, glumis acutioribus magis inaequalibus, aristis paulo longioribus.
