Findet sich in mannigfaltigen, aber unbedeutenden Formen meist auf etwas sonnigen Wiesen settweise im Gebiete; blühend vom Mai bis Juli, im Juli beginnen die Früchte zu reifen. Di ganze Pflanze schmeckt sehr bitter, etwas kratzend und ist sammt der Wurzel als Herba Polygalae amare officinell und giebt ein kräftiges, etwas reizendes tonisches Heilmittel, vorzüglich gegen Brustkrankheiten, ab. Ex Herb. Inst. Bot. Ac. Sc. URSS. DUPLA. Ex herb M.I. Nasarowi.
