Монотипный и эндемичный для Кавказа род, свойственный высокогорному поясу Центрального и Восточного Кавказа. По-видимому, один из представителей древней высокогорной флоры страны. Растет исключительно на осыпях от 2200 до 3500 м, вне влияния конкуренции со стороны других растений. Н. Буш.
