Кавказ, Краснодарский край, Кавказский заповедник, в березняке по северному склону горы Абаго. == Caucasus, prov. Krasnodar, in reservato Caucasico, in declivibus septentrionalibus montis Abago in betuletis.

1939, Фл. СССР 9 : 390 и 493; Сосновский, 1949, Фл. Груз. 5 : 350; Заиконникова, 1976, Новости сист. высш. раст. 13 : 155; она же, 1980, Новости сист. высш. раст. 17 : 145. Встречается во многих районах Кавказа. Часто растет в березняках по верхней границе леса, иногда вместе с S. colchica Zinserl. (на западе ареала) или с S. buschiana Zinserl. (на востоке ареала). 2n=68. Издаваемые экземпляры собраны в locus classicus. Возможно, что типовые и наши образцы были собраны даже с одних и тех же кустов, так как они хорошо заметны с тропы, ведущей к вершине Абаго. Т. Заиконникова.
