Этот подвид, отличающийся от типового подвида (subsp. junceus) густоволосистыми колосками и стеблями под колосьями, приурочен преимущественно к каменистым местообитаниям и имеет несколько иной ареал, отсутствуя в Юго-Восточной Европе, Западном Казахстане и значительной части Средней Азии, где обычен типовой подвид, но в то же время встречаясь в Якутии, где типовой подвид отсутствует. Издаваемые экземпляры не сполне типичны - несколько уклоняются к типовому подвиду. Н. Цвелев.
